The 11th of January 2020 marked the fifth and final workshop of the entire series of the Life Skills Workshops that have been running since September 2019.
Not only did the series end with a bang, but MWWA was pleased to host a full house of participants who came from various walks of life to learn, benefit and gain new skills, make new friends and meet professionals who were running the session.
After acquiring some skills of how to look for employment and were motivated to seek higher education, the women were given an insight into the basics of Business Start-up. They learnt about the main dynamics of starting-up a business in Australia, followed by a live talk from two women speakers who have established successful businesses for themselves. Mrs Aisha Eid, a successful business owner of a Sydney based store named ‘Rococo Décor’ spoke to the participants about the changes of her career path throughout her life and how she ended up being a business owner.
Whereas Jahida El Assaad, a Sydney Norwex Consultant shared a different perspective for becoming a business woman. She took a freelance business direction and offered the women an insight into the journey to business which would be more suitable to mothers and students.
Both speakers shared real life scenarios of challenges and successes that they faced during their business path.
After a short break, the President of MWWA Hajjah Faten El Dana OAM officially welcomed the women and thanked them for attending. She also spoke about the importance of supporting devastated communities who have been affected by the bushfires all around Australia.
The women were then given some time to engage in an actual and enjoyable professional experience where they learnt about the basics of photography and photo-editing with designer and photographer, Ms Sabrine Chahine. They were introduced to using high quality backdrops to use for capturing live images and learnt hot to edit them on the spot.
Not only was the photography workshop very beneficial in terms of modern-day skills, but it also rounded up the objective of the entire life skills project that MWWA team has tirelessly worked on. The participants will now be able to capture any relevant images especially images of self-made items they learned how to produce during the life skills workshops.
MWWA looks forward to congratulating all the women who participated in the life skills workshops during the upcoming final ceremony.
A big thank you to all the staff and volunteers of MWWA, and a special thank you to all the women participants who supported this project and helped to make it a successful one.
