On Saturday, November 16, 2024 the Muslim Women’s Welfare of Australia (MWWA) hosted Sister Space, a hands-on workshop designed to bring women together through the joy of traditional cooking and meaningful connection.
Under the expert guidance of Nora Awad, participants had the opportunity to learn the art of making and decorating Focaccia bread using a variety of fresh, high-quality ingredients. The experience was enriched by a warm and welcoming atmosphere, where attendees not only honed their baking skills but also enjoyed freshly baked Focaccia, morning tea, and a delicious lunch.
Adding to the significance of the day, MWWA President Hajjeh Faten Eldana OAM delivered an inspiring address on the importance of eating in moderation. Drawing from Islamic teachings, she emphasized the impact of mindful eating on overall health and well-being, while also shedding light on the negative effects of overeating. Her words resonated deeply, offering valuable insights that blended tradition with modern health consciousness.
The event was made possible with the generous support of Pantry Care, who sponsored key ingredients, ensuring a fulfilling experience for all participants. MWWA extends heartfelt gratitude to all attendees and supporters for making the event a tremendous success.
A highlight of the day was the bread decorating competition, which brought an exciting, creative element to the workshop. Congratulations to Ayah Awad, who won the prize for the best-decorated Focaccia!
MWWA looks forward to future Sister Space workshops, with upcoming sessions set to explore pasta and yogurt making. Stay tuned for more enriching experiences that celebrate culture, creativity, and community!
