The Muslim Women's Welfare of Australia (MWWA) recently hosted its highly anticipated annual Iftar dinner on Sunday, March 31st, 2024, bringing together over 200 guests for an evening of community, reflection, and togetherness. The event was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on all those in attendance.

This year’s Iftar dinner featured a diverse and lavish buffet, celebrating culinary traditions while embracing a deeply poignant Palestinian theme. Guests stood in solidarity with the people of Gaza, engaging in heartfelt reflection through a touching video presentation. MWWA President, Hajjeh Faten El-Dana OAM, led the gathering in supplication for those enduring hardships in Gaza, fostering an atmosphere of empathy and unity.

MWWA extends sincere appreciation to the small businesses that contributed to the evening’s vibrancy and success. Giant Flowers Sydney adorned the stage with stunning handcrafted paper flowers, creating a breathtaking backdrop. I Knit Studio provided beautifully crafted crochet gifts, adding a personal touch to the evening. Additionally, BXD Grazing extended a generous 20% discount on their grazing boxes, elevating the overall experience for guests.

In a departure from tradition, MWWA chose to forgo its annual shopping stalls, instead focusing on honoring the struggles of the people of Gaza. This decision underscored the organization’s unwavering commitment to empathy and humanitarian values.

Adding a delightful twist to the evening, Amani Khazaal from Hello It’s Amani captivated guests with a live dessert cooking demonstration. Her pistachio and ashta rolled balls proved to be a delicious treat, bringing the community together as attendees eagerly participated in the crafting process.

Congratulations to all the sisters who won a door prize at the MWWA Iftar! Special thanks go out to the small businesses who generously contributed these prizes, making the evening even more memorable.

Through solidarity, compassion, and a strong sense of community, the 2024 Annual Iftar Dinner embodied the very essence of MWWA’s mission, strengthening bonds and fostering a spirit of togetherness and support.
