On Saturday 30th September, MWWA held its second women's skills workshop aiming to upskill and empower women into professional employment. The program proudly sponsored by NSW government provided a migrant and CALD women employment support program focused on training/volunteering with an opportunity to gain skills in cake decorating. The spokesperson for training/volunteering was presented by Zena Tebbo representing women in engineering, with over 10 years experience in project engineering in a variety of reputable organisations. The informative session equipped attendees with valuable knowledge on the importance of volunteering and how to find the right volunteering opportunity for long-term employment.

The women were delighted to hear a word of advice From MWWA president, Hajjah Faten El Dana OAM, who congratulated the attendees for the great occasion of Al Mawlid and discussed the validity of celebrating the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

The first session was then followed by a cake decorating presentation by entrepreneur and founder Mariam Elhami from Baked by Mariam. The session taught attendees basic cake decorating skills such as piping and useful tips and tricks to perfecting ones baking presentation. All attendees were engaged in the workshop and found it to be highly beneficial and empowering, ensuring to log the third upcoming workshop into their calendar for building interview skills. The session included morning tea and concluded with a buffet catering lunch over which women enjoyed the opportunity to network and ask questions. We look forward to hosting the next workshop to continue building on women's skills and helping to uplift and empower Muslim women into professional employment opportunities.
